Forskaren has strengthened its position as a hub for collaboration and innovation in Hagastaden with the official opening of Takeda’s new office. The event, titled “Takeda on the Move,” gathered leading voices from Japan, Sweden, and beyond to discuss the future of life science — from cross-border partnerships to the role of AI and health data in next-generation research.

As one of the world’s oldest pharmaceutical companies, and now a close neighbour to The Park, Takeda adds significant weight to the ecosystem developing inside Forskaren. Their presence brings not only global experience but also a patient-centered perspective that aligns with the building’s mission to foster breakthroughs at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and research.

The programme reflected this international and future-oriented outlook. His Excellency Mizukoshi Hideaki, Ambassador of Japan to Sweden, joined Roland Kurney, General Manager Takeda Sweden, and Julie Kim, President U.S. Business Unit at Takeda, who will take on the role as CEO for Takeda in June 2026. Together, they highlighted how long-standing diplomatic relations and foreign investments in life science are driving Swedish growth and reinforcing Stockholm–Uppsala’s role as a global innovation hub.

Later sessions turned to Stockholm-Uppsala as the Capital of Life, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and health data as foundations for future research. Discussions centered on how Sweden’s investments in health registries and precision medicine can help the country secure a pioneering position in next-generation healthcare.

The evening closed with networking and refreshments in Forskaren’s open spaces, reinforcing the building’s role as a natural meeting place for collaboration. With Takeda now part of the community, Forskaren and Hagastaden gain a strong new voice — one that bridges cultures, strengthens partnerships, and contributes to shaping the future of global life science.
