We’re celebrating someone who has helped shape the pulse of The Park Forskaren since day one. William Bursvik, our Head of Sales, just hit his one-year milestone, and we couldn’t be prouder of what he has brought to the space: strategy, structure, and soul.

From the moment he joined, William took on the exciting challenge of leading our hybrid and partnership memberships. But his role quickly grew into something more than just helping develop The Park, it became about shaping its culture too.

“It feels like four lifetimes… but also a month. A lot of things have happened in such a short time, which is interesting when looking back at all that we’ve achieved this year.”

He arrived during a decisive transition. The Park was shifting from its multi-office format to a strong focus at Forskaren, and with that came new dynamics.

“Södra had its own unique vibe, more rowdy and ‘creative’, with things like ping pong tournaments, live music, and stand-up comedy. Forskaren brought a more professional and slightly strict vibe from the start, but over time, we’ve seen a really strong, open, and vibrant culture take shape here too, which is amazing.”

A Natural at Navigating Change

Throughout the year, William has proven himself to be the kind of person who succeeds in movement, helping shape structure while embracing growth.

“I’ve learned to prioritise what brings the most value in the moment. For example, in the beginning, we didn’t really need a 100% furnished site, all the systems running perfectly, or the catering menu perfectly set. We needed people. And as we grew, the needs grew with them.”

With 850 members and 240 companies now in the space, adaptability became key.

“There are lots of different needs and requirements, and a lot of different directions. There’s not just one track. So, it’s important to be adaptive and flexible, which can sometimes also be a challenge.”

Small Moments, Big Impact

When asked about a standout moment from the past year, William doesn’t mention sales numbers or contracts. Instead, he shares a Friday breakfast:

“I walked in and saw three or four people from different companies — people who I knew that didn’t know each other — sitting together, deep in conversation, mingling. Seeing that happen was really cool, and that is sort of how I measure success here.”

The culture of openness at The Park is something that William notes with pride.

“One example was when I was doing a digital tour through the space. I walked through the office with my computer and in the beginning, I thought I could have been disturbing the members. But most of them were seeing me do the digital tour and were waving and saying hi, helping me to create a welcoming environment.”

What’s Next?

Looking to the future, William’s focus is on deepening what has already been built, both inside the walls of Forskaren and beyond.

“Now that we have laid the foundation here, it’s going to be so much fun seeing the real strength in the culture and the community… and also looking to expand The Park to new locations and starting more and more collaborations with other life science clusters.”

As the community continues to grow and curiosity about The Park increases, William is ready for what’s next.

“We’re reaching a tipping point. We have a lot of companies sitting here and a lot of others wanting to be here as well, since a large part of the industry is part of the hub. And that’s accelerating quite a lot, I’m looking forward to seeing the community grow and make sure that we are the best we can be.”
