Hydro Diagnostics is a Stockholm-based biotech startup on a mission to make water quality testing faster, simpler, and more accessible. Founded by Erik Wåhlin and Kevin Siu, the idea emerged from a simple question: could the rapid tests used for viruses also be applied to detecting pathogens in water?

A Mission with Real-World Impact

The team realised that similar technology could be used for field testing of water quality, an area with little innovation but great need. That insight led to the development of Hydro Diagnostics’ testing solution, designed to make it easier for property owners, farmers, and smaller communities to check their water for harmful bacteria like E. coli and Legionella. These bacteria, while naturally occurring in various environments, can pose serious health risks if left unchecked.

The company’s larger goal is to revolutionise water sampling by combining biotechnology, diagnostics, and AI.

Recent Highlights: Funding & Growth

Hydro Diagnostics was recently awarded EU funding, a major milestone and a strong signal that their work matters. In addition, they’ve welcomed a new investor through Linvest: Felix Lindberg, who also joins their board of directors, which already includes Stefan Fischlein, Pontus Wilgodt, Frida Gustafsson, and Joakim Wahl, all of whom have played a key role in Hydro Diagnostics’ growth.
