A thousand billion cells in perfect harmony take place at The Cell in Cellernas symphony. The work is based on recordings of cells in a lab environment. Cellernas symphony is performed by Fredrika Gullfot and Ensemble Getögon. During the evening you can also participate in creative labs.

The symphony orchestra piece is performed in two unique ways: “Cell orchestra” and electronics by Fredrika Gullot; Acoustic interpretation performed by Emsemble Getögon.The first version will feature the “cell orchestra” and electronics, performed by Fredrika Gullfot. Fredrika, a PhD graduate in biotechnology from KTH, is now a sound artist and composer, trained at Dalarna University/DAVA and Elektronmusikstudion (EMS).

The “cell orchestra” is composed of living cells, whose membranes naturally contain electric voltages. These voltages fluctuate in response to various stimuli, producing unique electrical signals. These signals are processed through a classical analog synthesizer, converting them into musical notes. The cells themselves “produce” the symphony by responding to stimuli according to the written musical scores.
