On 21 January 2026, the SwedenBIO Summit took place at Grand Hôtel. The Summit is SwedenBIO’s annual winter gathering and a member-exclusive event bringing together companies, speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors from across the life science sector.
The event is positioned as a festive yet informal meeting place where member companies share business stories with the aim of inspiring and connecting the SwedenBIO community.
Focus and programme
The 2026 edition was built around a “dare to share” theme. The programme centred on exchanging experiences that have led to new achievements or valuable insights, with a focus on learning across the industry.
The afternoon opened with welcome remarks by Jessica Martinsson, CEO of SwedenBIO. The session How to Build and Scale in Sweden? addressed questions related to building and scaling life science companies in Sweden. The discussion focused on research environments, manufacturing capabilities, and workforce, and examined how companies can grow from idea to global impact. The session featured representatives from Novavax, BioLamina, and Alvotech, among others. Networking sessions were interspersed throughout the programme.
Launch of the SwedenBIO Barometer 2026
A central part of the programme was the launch of the SwedenBIO Barometer 2026, presenting updated statistics and insights on the life science industry. The first printed copy of the report was presented on stage to Jeanette Edblad, who spoke about the role of the Barometer in capturing industry perspectives and supporting future development.
From biotech winter to the next growth wave
The session From Biotech Winter to the Next Growth Wave, focused on recent market conditions following several years of constrained capital and cautious public markets. The panel discussed observations from JPM 2026, investor perspectives and considerations for how Swedish companies can position themselves toward 2030.
SwedenBIO Award 2025
The Summit concluded with the presentation of the SwedenBIO Award 2025. The award was presented to Hansa Biopharma in recognition of the company’s achievements and impact within the life science industry.
The award was received on stage by Renee Aguiar-Lucander, CEO of Hansa Biopharma.
Closing
The SwedenBIO Summit 2026 brought together members of the life science community to share experiences, review industry data, and connect across companies and roles, marking both the close of one year and the start of the next.
