We’re thrilled to share that Forskaren, the iconic circular life‑science building in Hagastaden, has officially won Årets Stockholmsbyggnad 2025, Stockholm Building of the Year! This prestigious recognition, based on public votes, celebrates architecture that blends innovation, functionality, and community value.

Out of 4,642 total votes, Forskaren stood out with an impressive 775 votes, making it the clear favourite among Stockholmers.

What Makes Forskaren Stand Out

Designed by the renowned 3XN and developed by Vectura Fastigheter, Forskaren is a landmark that champions openness, sustainability, and collaboration. Its circular architecture, stepped balconies, and open atrium invite both curiosity and interaction. The ground floor, open to the public, features Urban Deli, a restaurant with a separate shop and diner, and The Cell, a museum that blends life science and art, created by Tekniska Museet in collaboration with Karolinska Institutet.

More than a visual icon, Forskaren is a high-performance building with LEED and WELL Platinum certifications, housing 24,000 m² and integrating exceptional energy efficiency, water conservation, and superior indoor environmental quality.
